Visalia, CA – On Monday, December 7th, Family HealthCare Network (FHCN) will donate holiday food baskets, blankets, and gifts to 77 needy families in the communities of Cutler-Orosi, Hanford, Porterville, Terra Bella, Tulare, Visalia, and Woodlake. Staff and volunteers are busy preparing the baskets to be given away as part of the organization’s Anita Fund, a tradition of FHCN for more than 25 years. Through the Anita Fund, FHCN employees donate on a monthly basis from their personal paychecks to provide annual holiday gifts and food baskets to support patients in need.
“We know the holiday season can be a tough time for many local families,” stated FHCN President & CEO Kerry Hydash. “The Anita Fund is a very special tradition for our organization, and a unique opportunity for our staff to support patients who could use a little extra help this holiday season.”
Recipients of the gift and food baskets are patients of FHCN, nominated by medical providers and other staff of the Network. The gift baskets will include fresh produce donated by the Community Food Bank of Central California including canned food purchased at Food 4 Less at a discounted rate, as well as items purchased through donations made by FHCN staff throughout the year, such as a fresh full chicken, blankets, and gifts for children in each family.
Community health representatives and Community HealthCorps/AmeriCorps members from FHCN, along with community volunteers, will begin preparing the gift baskets at the organization’s corporate office in Visalia on Sunday, December 6th. On Monday, FHCN staff members will also volunteer to distribute the baskets and dress up as Santa to offer children a special holiday experience. A family photo is also provided for each family to take home.
Distribution to families will occur on Monday, December 7th from 1pm-5pm at FHCN’s corporate office in Visalia, its Resource Center in Porterville, as well as at Villa de Guadalupe in Cutler-Orosi.
