Visalia, CA – Family HealthCare Network (FHCN) Chief Operations Officer, Norma Verduzco, was honored at the 2016 Community Heroes Awards on Wednesday, November 2nd. Hosted by the College of Health and Human Services in Fresno, CA, Verduzco was recognized as one of the nine unsung heroes in the community whose actions, thoughts, and words have had a transformative impact in the region. The 2016 Community Heroes Awards celebrates heroes from each of the seven academic departments, as well as centers and institutions within Fresno State College of Health and Human Services.
Verduzco celebrated her 20th anniversary with Family HealthCare Network this year, where she began working as a receptionist at the FHCN Porterville Health Center. Coming from a migrant farm working family, Verduzco and her family grew up without access to health insurance. This has fueled her desire to learn and excel to the next level in order to provide accessible, quality health care to others in her community. She moved up the ranks, serving in various capacities, including Administrative Secretary, Medical Staff Coordinator, Staff Trainer, Director of Projects, and Director of Operations. She now serves as the Chief Operations Officer at Family HealthCare Network and continues to be an inspiration to her colleagues, peers, and the community of Tulare and Kings Counties.
Verduzco obtained her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership, as well as a master’s in Public Administration, both from Fresno State. In 2014, she graduated from the Blue Shield of California Foundation’s Clinical Leadership Institute, and in 2010 was the recipient of the Emerging Leader Award from the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services Geiger Gibson Program in Community Health Policy.
