The Book Nook Announces New Summer Hours
New Daily and Weekend Hours Can Help Beat the Heat with Good Books
VISALIA, CA— Downtown Visalia’s newest local bookstore, The Book Nook, is shifting its hours of operation ahead of the summer season to allow more young readers to discover a new favorite book during weekdays and weekends. Starting on May 2nd, The Book Nook is now open during the following days and times:
Tuesdays-Fridays 10:00 am – 7:00 pm
Saturdays 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Since opening its doors, The Book Nook has spotlighted several local fine artists, craft artists, and authors through its involvement in local community events. These new summer hours will fortify The Book Nook’s growing reputation as a community leader in supporting the arts and literacy in Tulare County.
Owned and operated as a division of Family HealthCare Network, The Book Nook serves as the newest addition to FHCN’s literacy initiative to increase literacy rates throughout Visalia and the surrounding communities. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, California has consistently rated in the bottom five states in terms of poor literacy rates. Tulare County regularly ranks near the bottom according to The Literacy Project—an independent nonprofit providing basic education programs and opportunities. The Book Nook was established to combat this growing trend by creating an easy avenue for kids to find new books at a young age.
