Visalia, CA – The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) has honored Family HealthCare Network Clinical Dental Director Isaac Navarro, DMD, MPH with the Hometown Advocate Award. The award recognizes individuals whose contribution has developed and enhanced education and training programs for health professionals at community-based health centers. Dr. Navarro was presented the Hometown Advocate Award at the 40th Annual NACHC Policy and Issues Forum in Washington, D.C.
“Dr. Isaac Navarro has been a passionate advocate on behalf of local students and continues to play an integral role in Family HealthCare Network’s Hometown Program,” stated Family HealthCare Network President & CEO Kerry Hydash. “The physician shortage in our nation hits areas like the Central Valley particularly hard. We’re deeply appreciative of Dr. Navarro’s leadership, hard work, and commitment to advocate for local students.”
In addition to serving as Clinical Dental Director for Family HealthCare Network (FHCN), Dr. Navarro serves as one of the Regional Directors for the organization’s A.T., Still University “Hometown Program” which focuses on connecting local students with medical school opportunities.
FHCN serves as the only Community Campus in California for students from A.T. Still University’s (ATSU) School of Osteopathic Medicine based in Mesa, AZ. ATSU medical students complete their study, train, and complete their clinical rotations during their last three years of medical school at FHCN health centers. In 2013, FHCN extended its partnership with the University, launching a Physician Assistant Program. In the same year, a Dental Residency program with Brooklyn, NY based Lutheran Medical Center Dental (LMC Dental) was established and places dental residents at FHCN health centers for comprehensive general dentistry training.
