Visalia, CA – Family HealthCare Network is pleased to announce it is now seeking nominees for the 2016 Anita de la Vega Community Service Award. For its sixth year, Family HealthCare Network’s award will honor one local advocate’s achievements, and the impact of their service in their community.
The Anita de la Vega Community Service Award was established by Family HealthCare Network’s Board of Directors in 2010 in memory of Anita de la Vega, a founding clinician of Family HealthCare Network. Anita served as a provider and advocate of the patients served by Family HealthCare Network for 30 years. She felt it was a privilege to practice medicine in underserved communities, but that it also was a responsibility to advocate for those communities.
Family HealthCare Network established the Community Service Award to honor local residents, who like Anita de la Vega, have dedicated their lives to serving the underserved communities in Tulare County to ensure they have access to the resources and services they need. Past award recipients include Carolyn Rose, Graciela Martinez, Isabel Olmos, and Elva Beltran.
