Grant from First 5 of Tulare County Awarded - Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Family HealthCare Network was awarded $529,347 from First 5 of Tulare County to begin a Kinder Care Dental Program. This 3-year program began July 1, 2009 and was developed to increase dental access to rural and underserved children ages 0-5 years. The main objective of the program is to provide 10,000 dental assessments; including fluoride varnishes as needed for children throughout Tulare County. A registered dental hygienist and/or dentist travels to rural locations providing assessments and education on site throughout the county. This program is accomplished through a collaborative effort with local schools, migrant education/head start programs, and other local school-based programs.
